Battle for the Bell (Southern Miss vs Tulane)
The Battle for the Bell is the rivalry game between the University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles or "Southern Miss", and Tulane University Green Wave football teams. Southern Miss is located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Tulane is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. The schools are located only about 110 miles from each other, making for an even more heated game. The two schools used to play each other annually in football, but due to the configuration of the Conference USA, the two schools play each other two out of every four years. The Southern Miss Golden Eagles were placed in the East Division while the Tulane Green Wave was placed in the West Division. In football, the Golden Eagles lead the all-time series 23–7, following the 2010 46–30 victory in New Orleans.
